Luke Stephenson, born in Darlington, UK, studied Photography at Blackpool & Flyde College.

Life in Britain and the British psyche are at the core of Stephenson’s work. Often humorous in their approach, his series of images ranges from prize budgerigars, to the iconic 99 ice cream, to the Clown Egg Register. Whether his subjects are animate or inanimate, Stephenson creates affectionate portraits, and documents worlds often hidden from the mainstream.

Luke Stephenson has previously been awarded the Jerwood Photographic Prize and was selected to showcase his work at the International Festival of Fashion & Photography in Hyeres, France. Stephenson has published four books to date. His first, An Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds, in 2012, which recently inspired a collaboration with luxury fashion brand Dries Van Noten. In 2014. He published 99x99s, exploring the wonderful world of the ever-popular 99 ice cream. In 2018 he created a limited edition zine The Ecstasy Of Everything that contains a collection of single images from the many series Luke has produced over the last 10 years.
